Staff are great, but online check-in is a joke

On my visit to arrange storage, and on the actual check-in day, the staff in the Sutton store were really friendly, professional and very helpful.
Unfortunately the online check-in facility was a joke. How can someone design a check-in page that doesn't even give you the chance to put in the information that is required?
For example a second emergency contact is required, but had to be added by the staff at check-in. Additional people authorised for access to the storage again had to be added by a staff member.
These are such simple things to configure in a web-page. The amount of staff time wasted, when it could easily be done in advance, shows Big Yellow hasn't got an efficient co-ordination between departments, those who design the internet side of the business and those who actually have to speak to customers.
Fortunately the high quality of the frontline staff made up for the laughably poor online experience.

From the first phone call I made to our current situation the customer servive has been brilliant!!
It was so nice to have staff who expressed an interest in our situation and tailored our needs according to the storage availability, rather than trying to upsell products to us or even try to get us to sign the dotted line, without first talking through the different options.

Very refreshing to have such lovely, friendly approachable staff, who had good knowledge of their products without been pushy sales people.
Storage space (and customer toilets) are clean and tidy.
Parking space is well located.
Trolleys are great and easy to use.
Security is great and we have got peace of mind that our belongings are safe.

I chose Big Yellow mainly because of the extended opening hours. It's very convenient to be able to have that additional access in the evenings and during weekends. The only way this could be bettered would be if it was open 24/7. It does have to be said that it's not the cheapest self storage out there, even at the 50% discount for the first 8 weeks.

I found the online booking in facility very useful. However it is a pity this facility is only available prior to occupancy and not for the period of storage, as I will have to make serveral more deposits to the store

Moving house is stressful enough without stumbling over everything whilst you try to sort out what you keep and what you recycle. At times like this you need a friend and I found Big Yellow Self Storage just such a friend.
Staff are friendly relaxed and reassuring, they ensure you see the storage areas available prior to taking out a contract so that you can get the space right in the first place, after all who wants to shift those boxes around more than once? If you do however get it wrong it's not the end of the world as you can still transfer to a larger or smaller space as needed.
Access is straightforward and simple to operate with a full backup security to ensure your property is secure at all times.
Paying in advance is a good tip as you can get a discount, in fact you can get most things from them either cheaper or comparable with elsewhere, actually the only thing missing was a cup of coffee!

I found myself in a situation where I could help my son by re claiming his flat from clutter. He's not able to drive so a convenient location was needed and accessible times of opening as he works shifts. I found the Sutton branch met these points and found the staff helpful and friendly. All the paper work was completed swiftly and after a brief detailed instruction on the security and tour of the building I was in the possession of a suitable space to store items until the de cluttering is completed.

What a fantastic transient between jobs I found when I visited my local Sutton branch of yellow storage, after a wonderful bout of negiotiating we settled on a three month half price fee, great and with out of hours.
As a builder I was getting close to completion on an extension so I needed to clear that particular job, my yard is in a tis-was so I could not take it back there and just add to the pile so I was in limbo.
Thats when that wonderful yellow building came into play, a transient between this life and another, well just waiting for my next loft conversion to start so I can hump all the tools over there, I must state that the storage is a god send and it makes that little inter-section between jobs a must for me to be able to store.
